Stormwater Management Program

Drew ES Tree Planting Arlington Public Schools (APS) understands the importance of protecting our local water ways from erosion and stormwater pollutants. APS received our Phase II (small) Municipal Separate Storm Sewer System (MS4) Permit on April 18, 2014. An MS4 is a conveyance or system of conveyances of stormwater (including roads, curbs, gutters, catch basins, man-made channels). We are responsible for developing best management practices or minimum control measures (MCM) in six areas.

  1. Public Education and Outreach
  2. Public Involvement and Participation
  3. Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination (IDDE)
  4. Construction Site Storm Water Runoff Control
  5. Post-Construction Storm Water Management
  6. Pollution Prevention and Good Housekeeping for School Operations

Questions or comments on APS’ Stormwater Program Plan, Education & Outreach Strategies, Illicit Discharge Detection and Elimination Program Plan, or any other stormwater concerns may be directed to stormwater@apsva.us or call (571) 319-6048. APS will respond within 10 business days. Thank you.
