1300 High School Seats: In June 2017, the School Board voted to add 1300 new High School Seats: 500-600 at the Education Center and 700-800 at the Career Center. The presentations, staff analysis, and FAQs on that site were created throughout the 2016-2017 School Year.

APS Strategic PlanFollow and provide feedback on the development of a new strategic plan that will the define mission, vision and core values, and articulate goals and aspirations for students, staff, and APS as a whole.

Capital Improvement Plan: Every two years, the School Board adopts a CIP that addresses APS capital needs—investments needed to improve or enhance the infrastructure of our schools—over the next ten years. The CIP includes major capital projects, such as new schools and school additions, as well as major maintenance and minor construction projects. By June 21, 2018, the School Board will adopt a new Fiscal Year 2019-2028 CIP.

APS Facilities Advisory CommitteeThe Advisory Council on School Facilities and Capital Programs (FAC) assists the School Board in the continuous, systematic review of school facilities and the annual and long-range Capital Improvement Program. The Council offers recommendations and suggestions to the School Board on the Arlington School Facilities and Student Accommodation Plan (AFSAP), which includes the ten-year Capital Improvement Plan (CIP), and for future funding for school facilities.

Joint Facilities Advisory Committee (JFAC): The Joint Facilities Advisory Commission (JFAC) is an advisory body jointly appointed by the County Board and the School Board. This was a recommendation within the 2015 Community Facilities Study. The mission of the JFAC is to provide input to the Boards on capital facilities needs assessment, capital improvement plans and long range facility planning for both the Arlington County Government and Arlington Public Schools.
