Prepare to be inspired by the reflections of students whose winning essays, poems, and works of art pay tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Watch a debut of the video that highlights the winners of the annual Literary and Visual Arts Contest, who were selected from more than 1,300 entries received from every school and program throughout APS.Student winners share what inspired them to write or create visual art that honors the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This year, they were specifically asked how speaking up (or staying silent) can change your life, your community, or your world, in response to Dr. King’s famous quote “Our lives begin to end the day we become silent about things that matter.”The video will be featured at Arlington County’s 2017 Tribute to Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. on Sun, Jan. 15 from 5-6:30 p.m. at Wakefield High School.
