Come Join APS at the Arlington County Fair

Meet and Engage with APS Leadership

Join Arlington Public Schools (APS) for the annual Arlington County Fair at the Thomas Jefferson Community Center (3501 Second St.), August 14-18. The inside exhibit dates are August 16-18. APS will be located by the main entrance to the inside exhibits, in the “Arlington Learns” section with other departments from Arlington County.

APS families and community members are encouraged to stop by the “Arlington Learns” section during the fair this upcoming weekend. At the fair, attendees will have the opportunity to meet and engage with School Board Members, the new APS Interim Superintendent, the APS Executive Leadership Team, and new school principals.

Below is a list of when specific APS staff members will be at the APS table during the County Fair:

School Board Members

  • Sat., Aug. 17 from Noon-2 p.m. – Dr. Barbara Kanninen, School Board Member
  • Sat., Aug. 17 from 2-4 p.m. – Monique O’Grady, School Board Vice Chair
  • Sun, Aug. 18 from 2-4 p.m. – Reid Goldstein, School Board Member

APS Interim Superintendent

  • Fri., Aug. 16 from 6-8 p.m. – Cintia Johnson, APS Interim Superintendent 

APS Executive Leadership Team

  • Fri., Aug. 16 from 4-6 p.m. – Catherine Ashby, Interim Assistant Superintendent of School & Community Relations
  • Fri., Aug. 16 from 4-6 p.m. – Lisa Stengle, Executive Director of Planning & Evaluation
  • Fri., Aug. 16 from 6-8 p.m. – John Chadwick, Assistant Superintendent of Facilities & Operations
  • Fri., Aug. 16 from 8-10 p.m. – Tyrone Byrd, Director of Secondary Education

Arlington Public Schools to Participate Summer Meals Program

Arlington Public Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to students ages 18 and under on a first come, first serve basis, from July 5-Aug. 1 at Carlin Springs Elementary School (5995 5th Road S.).
