Fifteen APS students earned perfect scores on this year’s exams National Latin Exam. The 15 perfect scores were among more than 586 Arlington Latin students who took the exam in March.
Of the students who took the exam, 229 students earned awards: 62 students earned gold medals (Summa Cum Laude), 70 students received a silver medal (Maxima Cum Laude), 51 earned a Magna Cum Laude certificate and 46 earned the Cum Laude certificate.

At every level, only around 0.5 percent of students achieve a perfect paper in these exams, while gold summa cum laude medals are awarded to the top 10 percent of participants at each level.
The National Latin Exam was established in 1977 to provide students with a national standard to measure their academic success. The exam covers grammar, reading comprehension, Roman culture, history, geography, mythology, and etymology.
