Nineteen APS students will be participating in the upcoming All-Virginia Orchestra, All-Virginia Symphonic Band, All-Virginia Concert Band and All-Virginia Chorus ensembles running from Thu, April 27-29.

Greater Richmond will serve as host to more than 700 students who comprise the 2023 All-Virginia Band, Chorus and Orchestra ensembles. Concerts for all groups will take place on Sat, April 29. The Carpenter Theatre at the Dominion Energy Center in downtown Richmond will be the performance venue for the high school chorus, band and orchestra ensembles. Concerts begin at 11 a.m. with the choral ensembles, and last throughout the day until 3:45 p.m.

Selected through a highly competitive audition process, there are five total high school ensembles, Concert Band, Symphonic Band, Orchestra, Treble Choir and Mixed Choir, who will be playing over the weekend. Approximately 300 music teachers, who are members of the Virginia Band and Orchestra Directors Association, and the Virginia Choral Directors Association, will be in attendance. All of the teachers in attendance are also members of the Virginia Music Educators Association. Additionally, the Virginia Choral Directors Association will also be hosting selected All-Virginia Middle School Chorus students that are also slated to perform Saturday afternoon in Mechanicsville at Fairmount Christian Church. Performances are from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m.
