School Board Hears Update on Capital Projects and Changes to Project Funding for Dorothy Hamm Middle School and The Heights Building

At Thursday’s School Board meeting, staff presented updates on capital projects and proposed changes to the Dorothy Hamm Middle School and The Heights Building construction project funding. Both schools were completed on time to welcome students for the start of the 2019-20 school year and require additional funding for project completion.

In-School Flu Shots Discontinued for 2019-20 School Year

Last November, you may recall that APS partnered with third-party vaccine provider, Healthy Schools (CareDox), to offer students free flu shots in our schools during the school day. We had plans to continue this offering for students this year; however, the provider notified us they are no longer able to provide this service in our area due to a restructuring of the company. We regret that we are not able to provide this service this year, and we are currently exploring new partners to work with us in the future.
APS On-Time Graduation Rate Remains High for Class of 2019

The APS On-Time Graduation Rate (OGR) for the Class of 2019 is 93%, (1,636 students), remaining consistently high with past year’s performance.
