Dear APS Families,

Parent-Teacher Conferences are coming up at the end of this week, and I encourage all elementary and middle school families to make time to meet your students’ teachers. As we approach the end of the first quarter, these conferences provide an opportunity to discuss your student’s goals and progress, as well as additional ways to support student success. Here are tips and resources to make the most of these meetings.

Other updates:

  • Join Us Tonight, Wed, Oct. 19 for Help with AOVP—The Annual Online Verification Process (AOVP) closes on Oct. 31, and we need all families to complete the process. APS will host an in-person AOVP Family Support Night at the Lubber Run Community Center tonight to provide hands-on assistance helping families log into ParentVUE. Bring your kids and enjoy pizza while completing the process! View details.
  • Calling Artists and Writers: 2023 MLK Contest – The 2023 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Literary and Visual Arts Contest is now open through Nov. 18, 2022. This annual contest encourages students of all grade levels to explore Dr. King’s words through art and writing. Please help us encourage as many students as possible to participate, representing all schools and backgrounds. Student submissions will be recognized in a video tribute at the School Board meeting on Thu, Jan. 19, 2023. View details.
  • Coming Soon: 2023-24 Calendar Survey – The development of the 2023-24 APS School Year Calendar is underway. Look for a survey link next Tue, Oct. 25, to share your input on which calendar option you prefer. The survey will run Oct. 25 – Nov. 8.

As a reminder, elementary schools have an early release this Thursday and elementary and middle schools have no school on Friday for Parent-Teacher Conferences.

Mon, Oct. 24 is a holiday for all students and staff in observance of Diwali.  Known as the “Festival of Lights,” Diwali is a five-day holiday celebrated by millions of Hindus, Jains, and Sikhs worldwide. This festival is as important to Hindus as the Christmas holiday is to Christians. Learn more

Thank you for your partnership!

Sincerely,
