NEW UPDATE for Summer School: No Charge for Breakfast and Lunch for Summer School Students
On July 5, the USDA announced an extension of the waiver allowing summer school meals to be free for all students. Starting July 6, students who attend summer school will receive breakfast and lunch at no cost. This waiver is only for summer operations; Free and Reduced meals applications will need to be on file in August before the start of the new school year.

As of March 2022, Congress declined to provide USDA (United States Department of Agriculture) authorization to extend National School Lunch program waivers to provide meals at no cost. School meal programs will return to normal operations when school starts in the fall. The main change is that school lunch and breakfast will no longer be automatically served at no cost to all students.
Summer Meal Pick Up Schedule
Carlin Springs, Randolph and Barrett elementary schools will also serve as food distribution centers during the summer school session. All students 18 and under can pick up free breakfast and lunch daily from 11 a.m.-12 p.m. Parents and caregivers will be allowed to pick up meals for students.
Meal Prices for Next School Year
- 2022-23 School Year: Elementary and secondary breakfast $1.80; Elementary lunch $3.10; Secondary $3.20
- Barcroft, Barrett, Carlin Springs, Dr. Charles R. Drew and Randolph elementary schools are Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) schools and will provide meals at no cost next school year. The CEP allows for certain schools to provide free meals based on the percentage of the student population eligible for free or reduced meals.
