School Board Selects 2021 Honored Citizens

Every year, community members spend countless hours volunteering in Arlington Schools, supporting our students and staff. The Arlington School Board recognizes this commitment and appreciates the efforts of all volunteers.

In 1975, the Board established the Honored Citizen Award to recognize those special volunteers who have made extraordinary contributions to Arlington Public Schools. These dedicated individuals participate in a wide variety of school activities, demonstrating a sustained commitment to APS of at least five years. In spite of the closure due to the COVID-19 Pandemic over the past year, the School Board recognizes that there are many dedicated volunteers who have continued to make a difference in the schools and community.

For 2021, the Board has selected 3 outstanding volunteers as Honored Citizens. The Board will celebrate these individuals with a special virtual recognition at the May 6, 2021 School Board Meeting, which begins at 7 p.m.

This year’s Honored Citizens are:

Cloe Chin
Advisory Council on Teaching and Learning, Arlington Special Education Advisory Committee, Decoding Dyslexia Virginia

Paula Cohen
Nottingham Elementary School, Williamsburg Middle School, Yorktown High School

Bethany Sutton
Randolph Elementary School; Randolph Food Pantry
