WIDA ACCESS for English Learners

Purpose of assessment: ACCESS for ELLs 2.0 is an English language proficiency assessment for Grades K–12. The test is administered every year to help school districts monitor the English language development of students identified as English language learners.

Grades Taking the assessment: K-12

Dates: January – April

What to expect during the assessment: WIDA tests students’ language in the four domains: Listening, Reading, Speaking, Writing. Depending on the grade level, students will take the assessment online or on paper with the time varying based on level. The assessment is partially adaptive which means students will take questions at their level based on previous answers. Testing is usually completed over multiple days.
