At it’s 2020 Awards Ceremony earlier this week, the Northern Virginia PTA recognized Arlington Science Focus School teacher Stephanie Lin as the recipient of its NOVA District PTA Outstanding Educator of the Year Award.
Lin was recognized for leading the school’s Investigation Station and Science City programs and for coordinating Family STEM Nights, Outside the Box Day, Habitat Week, Aquarium Club, Lego Robotics Team.
In addition, the Northern VA PTA also recognized Montessori Public School of Arlington’s Kia Hayes as a NOVA District Elementary Volunteer of the Year Finalist for overseeing the New PTA Charter for the school for over a year; engaging with the PTA for 10 years, serving in all levels; advocating for the school and PTA at School Board Meetings; and being instrumental in membership growth of the new PTA, earning the VA PTA Membership Award.
Finally, the Arlington Special Education PTA (SEPTA) was named NOVA District iSTEAM PTA of the Year for Co-Sponsoring the 2019 NOVA District PTA iSTEAM EXPO; organizing STEAM activities for students with disabilities; actively engaging school PTA/PTSAs in SEPTA meetings and activities’ and partnering with other PTA Councils.
