The School Board approved the appointment of Dr. Kevin Clark as the new Principal of Yorktown High School during tonight’s meeting. Clark is currently an Assistant Principal at George Mason High School and will assume his new role with Arlington Public Schools (APS) on January 13, 2020. He will take over for Bridget Loft who was recently named Assistant Superintendent of Teaching and Learning.
“Kevin returns to APS with extensive experience and knowledge in educational leadership,” said Interim Superintendent Cintia Johnson. “His experience as a teacher and an administrator, as well as his leadership on equity, inclusion and support for all learners, will be an asset to APS and the Yorktown community.”
From 2006 to 2014, Clark served APS as a math teacher at Washington-Liberty High School, a Summer School Assistant Principal, and an Assistant Principal at Gunston Middle School. During his eight years in Arlington, Clark emphasized Professional Learning Communities and data-driven assessment strategies to support all learners.
Most recently, Clark served as an Assistant Principal at George Mason High School, where he led the Multi-Tiered System of Supports Team, supported the roll-out of the school’s 1:1 initiative and built an Equity Team of diverse stakeholders to foster inclusion and diversity.
Clark is also an adjunct professor at the University of Virginia’s Curry School of Education, where he teaches Leadership for Educational Technology.
Clark is a graduate of the University of Virginia where he earned a Bachelor of Arts in Economics, a Master of Teaching with a certification in math and a Doctor of Education in education leadership.
