For the fifth consecutive year, all schools in Arlington Public Schools are fully accredited by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE). This week’s VDOE release of 2019-20 accreditation ratings for schools across Virginia is available online.
The accreditation ratings align with the new Standards of Accreditation (8 VAC 20-131) and are based on the results of school quality indicators including academic achievement, achievement gaps, absenteeism, graduation and dropout rates, and college, career and civic readiness.
“For five years, our teachers, students and families have worked tirelessly to meet or exceed the state’s expectations for achievement and improving student outcomes. I want to take this opportunity to congratulate everyone involved on a job well done,” said Interim Superintendent Cintia Johnson. She continued, “Five years of full accreditation highlights the strength of our schools and the commitment of our dedicated staff to ensure that our students have the support and tools they need to succeed and grow.”
