We want to apologize to staff and families for the errors in last week’s calendar questionnaire and let you know that we have addressed the technical issues that were identified in the questionnaire posted last week. As a result, it now has been re-posted online and outlines in more detail the differences between the two options being considered for the 2019-20 school year. We also have extended the deadline to Monday, Nov. 26.
If you completed the survey last week, we invite you to take a couple of minutes to provide your input again regarding the Superintendent’s Draft Calendar for the 2019-20 school year. This year, two draft calendar preferences (Calendar I and Calendar II) have been prepared for review and input. The two calendar options are available for review within the questionnaire or on the “Engage with APS” Page.
The differences in the two Calendar options are:
- Option 1: Columbus Day (Oct. 14) is a holiday for students and a professional learning day for APS staff. In this option, 12-month employees will have Dec. 26 as a holiday in lieu of Columbus Day (Oct. 14).
- Option 2: Columbus Day (Oct. 14) is a holiday for students and staff.Mon, Oct. 7 will serve as the professional learning day for all APS staff. In this option, students would be off on both Mon, Oct. 7 and Mon, Oct. 14 and 12-month staff would report on Dec. 26.
Before submitting the questionnaire, there is also a section for respondents to provide comments on the two options.
Responses will be provided to the Superintendent to help develop a recommendation for the 2019-20 School Year Calendar to the School Board in January 2019.
