All APS Schools Fully Accredited for 2017-18 by VDOE

For third year in a row, all Arlington Public Schools are fully accredited by the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE). Today’s VDOE release of 2017-18 accreditation ratings for schools across Virginia is available online.

The 2017-18 accreditation ratings are based on the 2016-17 Standards of Learning (SOL) assessment results.  Elementary and middle school accreditation ratings reflect student achievement on last year’s SOL results in English, history/social science, mathematics and science.  High school ratings also include an additional measure called the graduation completion index (page 2).

Arlington Superintendent Dr. Pat Murphy said, “Achieving full accreditation for the third consecutive year in all of our schools is the result of the commitment from our dedicated teachers and school leaders, combined with the efforts of our students and their supportive families.” He continued, “While the SOLs are only one of the measures that we consider to monitor student success, our students’ high achievement reflects their strong commitment to learning and the care and support of our teachers and the leaders of all APS support systems who collaborate every day to ensure consistency and success for all students.”
