Career Center Culinary Arts Students Awarded Scholarships

The Arlington Career Center Culinary Arts program recently shared the results of student participation in the Careers Through Culinary Arts Program (C-CAP) Scholarship Competition. On Sat, April 1, culinary arts students participated in the C-CAP Finals Cooking Competition where they prepared Hunter’s Chicken with Torne Potatoes and a Crepe dessert. The results were announced two days later at an awards ceremony at Toro Toro Restaurant in Washington D.C.

Student winners included:

  • Elizabeth Sheriff, Yorktown High School – $57,240 (Culinary Institute of America – Full Tuition)
  • Renè Espinoza, Washington-Lee High School – $1,000
  • Sebastian McCoy, Washington-Lee High School – $1,000
  • Kameron Harris, Wakefield High School – $400 (Monroe College Bootcamp)

Arlington Public Schools to Participate Summer Meals Program

Arlington Public Schools is participating in the Summer Food Service Program. Meals will be provided to students ages 18 and under on a first come, first serve basis, from July 5-Aug. 1 at Carlin Springs Elementary School (5995 5th Road S.).
