Niche.com has released their 2017 rankings of the nation’s top schools and school divisions this week. APS ranked first in Virginia and the Metro DC area for the second year in a row and 59th nationally. APS is one of only two Virginia school divisions in the top 100 across the nation. A high ranking indicates that the district contains great schools with exceptional teachers, sufficient resources, and a diverse set of high-achieving students who rate their experiences very highly.
High Schools All APS high schools are ranked in the top 10 in Virginia.

- Yorktown ranks #3 in Virginia and 179 nationally
- Wakefield ranks #9 in Virginia and 432 nationally
Middle Schools All five middle schools are ranked in the top 30 in Virginia.
