Sept. 16, 2016 — In this week’s episode of Snapshots, Superintendent Dr. Pat Murphy talks with Drew Model School students and staff about the school’s Innovation Academy. The summer initiative was a two-week program focused on nurturing high academic potential at an early age, so that students will be prepared to engage in challenging subject matter and rigorous courses in upper-elementary, middle school and beyond.
During the pilot program, students focused on technology-integrated architecture by participating in hands-on activities by using innovative technology, meeting experts from the field, and engaging in real world experiences through field trips.
The Innovation Academy was developed as part of the school’s Young Scholars initiative. An essential component of the Young Scholars model is the identification and nurturing of advanced academic potential in students from diverse cultural, ethnic, and linguistic backgrounds.
