Educational Equity in Virginia

#EdEquityVA is defined as our commitment to eliminating the predictability of student outcomes based on race, gender, zip code, ability, socio-economic status, and/or languages spoken at home. This vision of equity requires that students have access to high quality learning programs that enable them to maximize their potential.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Mission Statement

The Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) is committed to a culturally responsive workplace which enables us to build a greater understanding of our students, staff and community. We embrace the challenge of eradicating district and community wide inequities to build and sustain a diverse workforce, champion inclusive curriculum, and implement data driven interventions to close achievement and opportunities gaps for all students and staff. Our efforts are intentional and not limited to assessing and evaluating district policies and practices, but to ensure equitable fiscal accountability in the resources, programs, services and partnerships of our learning community. We instill that equity is not a choice, but our responsibility in sustaining the academic and operational excellence that is Arlington Public Schools.

Diversity, Equity & Inclusion Vision Statement

The vision of the Office of Diversity, Equity & Inclusion (DEI) is to provide guidance and assist with developing a district-wide shared value of equity.  We believe in (1) data informed best practices, (2) promoting a culturally inclusive community, (3) ensuring that all policies are equitable and reflect all stakeholders including students, staff, and the community at large, and (4) monitoring APS strategies and initiatives that reflect systemic, actionable, and equitable outcomes for ALL members of our school community.

Equity at Integration Station

At Integration Station, we are committed to promoting equity as a program that serves our youngest students with disabilities and their families. Our aim is that all students are recognized for their potential, and that all families are welcomed, respected, and empowered to learn and grow with their children. As a preschool program, we place an emphasis on social-emotional learning and showing our students from an early age the values of a diverse and welcoming school community.
