Performance Based Assessment (PBA) Scores for Virginia and United States History

Performance Based Assessment (PBA) Scores for Virginia and United States History

Students participated in performance based assessments as one part of a process used to award verified credits to students still in need of a verified credit in Social Studies.  Multiple performance assessments were scored by APS classroom teachers who reviewed essays using core criteria and task specific rubric components from the HSS State Developed Common Rubric-Upper Secondary. All teachers participated in division wide scoring calibration training. The score that is being reported is the student score for the core criteria of the rubric. The task specific criteria varied by task and feedback on those components, as well as the core criteria reported here, have been provided to students as part of classroom instruction. The overall score for students on each performance assessment range from 0-4 or 99 if a student did not submit the assignment. As the score that is being reported is only one portion of the process that was used to award credit this year, a high score in this portion of the process does not necessarily mean that a student has earned their verified credit for the course.
