APS Operations Update for Fri, Dec.19 – Gunston Will Open 2 Hours Late Due to Power Outage Due to a power outage in the area, Gunston Middle School will open 2 hours late this morning, Dec. 19, 2025. Dominion Power is working on the outage and estimates 2-4 hours to restore power. Custodial and maintenance staff and food service workers should report to work at their regularly scheduled time. All other employees should report to work two hours past their usual start time.

In general, APS will only post/send messages if there is a change in normal operating status. For situations where everything is open/operating on a normal schedule, we will not send or post notifications.

The first seven inclement weather days will be treated as traditional “snow days.” These seven days may occur consecutively as part of a single major event or at different times during isolated weather events. APS will revert to distance learning for days in excess of the seven allotted days.
