Development of the 2024-30 Strategic Plan
- In the Fall of 2023, Arlington Public Schools will begin work to develop the 2024-30 APS Strategic Plan. This process will carry through the 2023-24 school year and include multiple opportunities for community input and feedback.
- The Strategic Plan serves as a roadmap to guide and focus our work as a school division to provide high-quality educational opportunities that support the academic and social-emotional needs of all students.

Home Address Confirmation Process
(HACP)- In preparation for the 2023-24 school year, HACP requires the families of current fifth and eighth grade students to confirm their home address by March 15, 2023.
- This new process will allow APS to maintain accurate student records and to comply with Virginia law and our admissions policy.

Instructional Programs and Pathways (IPP)
- Through the IPP process, APS is addressing one of the implementation strategies of the Strategic Plan to ensure multiple pathways to student success: “Increase high-quality options for PreK-12 instructional models within and beyond neighborhood schools.”

FY 2024 Budget Development Process
- The Superintendent’s Proposed FY 2024 Budget for $803.3 million provides a step increase and cost of living adjustment to eligible employees based on the new salary scales implemented for FY 2023.
- In addition, the Superintendent’s Proposed FY 2024 Budget will provide additional supports and services to schools to improve reading and math scores as well as assist with the testing process.

English Learners Strategic Action Plan
- The Office of English Learners is currently developing a five-year plan to improve capacity to deliver services to English Learner (EL) students.
- The action plan will improve educational experiences and outcomes for students.

Equity Profile Dashboard Community Conversations
- DEI will host multiple community conversations on the dashboard to receive feedback from the community on the next iteration of the dashboard.
- The conversations will include key takeaways about student demographics, student success, and college & career readiness.
- The conversations will also allow the community to provide feedback on the upcoming updates to the dashboard, which includes student well-being, school climate, and engaged workforce.

Arlington Career Center Project
- The Building Level Planning Committee (BLPC) for the Arlington Career Center Project has been reconvened to provide public feedback on the Public Facilities Review Committee (PFRC) Principles of Civic Design.
- The School Board approved the Schematic Design for the Arlington Career Center Project at the School Board Meeting on October 27, 2022.

APS and School Resource Officers
- APS is reviewing our school division’s relationship and operations with School Resource Officers (SROs), including the review and monitoring of the APS Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Arlington County Police Department (ACPD).
- A Work Group was formed during the 2020-21 school year that worked with APS staff and made a recommendation to remove SROs from all APS schools.

New Principal Searches
- APS is currently conducting principal searches for two schools and is requesting community feedback on the schools and the qualities desired in the new principals.
