FREE COLLEGE CREDITS through Northern Virginia Community College!

Early Online College offers students many benefits, including:

  • Lowering the overall cost of college by graduating from high school with college credits in your pocket.
  • Gaining access to campus resources and participating in college events and activities.
  • Starting at NOVA and finishing at the college or university of your choice seamlessly with our transfer agreements, including the ADVANCE program with George Mason University.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW ABOUT EARLY ONLINE COLLEGE (EOC)

  • Early Online College offers tuition free courses through NOVA! Textbook fees as indicated per course.
  • Juniors may take 1 3-credit course and Seniors may take 2 courses.
  • Students must be in good academic standing at NOVA with at least a 2.0 GPA.
  • Per NOVA policy students may not exceed 18 NOVA credits per semester.
  • A current high school transcript is required to complete your EOC application.
  • EOC courses are designed to fulfill NOVA degree requirements and transfer well to other colleges and universities.
  • You are enrolling in an NOVA online course. Students must have access to a computer and reliable internet, and may be required to participate in classes or take exams with their camera on. Remotely proctored exams also require the use of a lockdown web browser which may need to be downloaded to the student’s computer.
  • Under section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 and the Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA), disability services are available to you if you are currently enrolled, have a documented disability that substantially limits you in one or more of life’s major activities, and are otherwise academically qualified. To use services in a NOVA class, you must apply online at https://www.nvcc.edu/accommodations
  • By enrolling in a EOC class, you are starting or continuing an official college transcript. You will be required to share this transcript with every college or university to which you may later apply.
  • EOC enrollment is limited, and individual courses may be further limited based on qualified instructor availability. You will be notified if your choice is not available.

Who is eligible? 

  • High school juniors and seniors currently attending Arlington Public Schools.
  • Applicants must demonstrate proof of English and math college readiness.
  • Verify readiness requirements through GPA, PSAT, SAT, ACT, SOL or AP results through NOVA Fall 2021 Placement Policy.

How do I apply to the Early Online College Program? 

STEP 1: Apply to NOVA. If you are already a NOVA student, locate your EMPLID, username and password and proceed to step 2.

STEP 2: Create a New Student Account. If you have already created an account in nvcc.dualenroll.com, log in and proceed to step 3. You will need your NOVA EMPLID number for your account.

STEP 3: Select your Early Online College course in the nvcc.dualenroll.com portal. You must select Early Online College–Fall 2022 for your term.

STEP 4: Upload a copy of your current high school transcript and any qualifying test scores.

STEP 5: Check your application status in the nvcc.dualenroll.com portal. Be sure your parent or legal guardian has consented to your course selection. Be sure to check your email often as we will send you updates as we process your application.
