Follow these instructions if, when you turn on your iPad, you see the “Hello” screen, pictured below.
Please note that there can be variations from one device to the next. Some of these steps might be out of order or slightly different for you. When in doubt, follow the instructions on the screen.

Otherwise, continue with the step-by-step instructions:
Press the home button to begin.
Next, press English, as shown below.
Next, press United States, as shown below. You might have to scroll to the bottom of the list.
Next, press on your home wireless network, as shown below. If you are not sure which network on the list is yours, ask the owner of the network. You will need the password for this network. If you are not sure what the password is, ask the owner of the network.
Enter the network password, then press Join.
After connecting successfully to the network, your iPad will say “It may take a few minutes to activate your iPad.” Wait for the screen to change. Follow any on-screen instructions if there is an error.
You might be presented with a screen that asks about Data and Privacy. If so, press the blue button.
You will now connect the iPad to the APS mobile device management system called “AirWatch.” On the Remote Management screen, click Next in the upper right-hand corner, as shown below:
Enter the student’s seven digit MyAccess Username and six digit MyAccess password, then click Next in the upper right-hand corner.
If you see an error that the Remote Management process has timed out or could not be completed, click the Back button in the upper left-hand corner and try again.
After this step, you will be taken through a series of options.
Press the blue button (circled in green on the left below), regardless of what it says, except on the Siri screen. On the Siri screen, click Set up Later in Settings instead (circled in red on the right below).
Once you have completed all of these steps, you will read the “Welcome to iPad” screen.
Press Get Started.
Once you do this, you will be taken to the home screen. It will change automatically. It will look something like this:
Once you get to this point during the initialization process, stop. Press the power button briefly to put the iPad to sleep. Connect the iPad to a charger, and set it aside for at least one hour before proceeding to the next step.
If you see a pop up asking you to set up Siri, choose the “no” option, such as “set up later.”
If you start the setup process on the next page, and find you are missing apps that you need, you may need to wait longer. That is not unusual.
