Updated Device Return Information

Reminder that students in grades PreK-12 need to turn in their devices by the last day of school. Devices will be prepared for re-distribution in the first weeks of 2022-23 school year. Please note the following details and exceptions:

  • Middle and high school students who are taking summer Virtual VA courses will have their devices updated beginning June 7 through the end of the school year, so that those students may retain their devices in order to complete course work over the summer.
  • Students attending APS summer school will receive a device on the first day of summer school on July 5 at their summer school location (elementary students), Dorothy Hamm (middle school students) or Washington-Liberty (high school students).
  • All rising 9-12 non-summer school students will be able to pick up their device during rolling distribution dates at their schools. More information regarding return and re-distribution days will be communicated by each school.
  • Students with a documented print disability will be provided their device as needed, through Assistive Technology. All communication devices will be sent home with students and updated in September after returning to school, this includes students who attend Shriver.

Schools will communicate additional scheduling information for device returns and redistribution directly with their families.

For preparation purposes, students should allow for 45 minutes to pick up their device so that they can attend a session on Digital Literacy and Acceptable Usage Procedures with an Instructional Technology Coordinator (ITC) before receiving their device.
