Virginia Department of Education Releases 2019 SOL Results

Today, the Virginia Department of Education (VDOE) released 2019 SOL results for all public school divisions and schools. Students in Arlington Public Schools (APS) continue to pass the Virginia Standards of Learning (SOL) tests at high rates and their performance aligns with trends across the state.

Mary Beth Donnelly Named 2019 Virginia History Teacher of the Year

Swanson Middle School teacher Mary Beth Donnelly has been named the 2019 Virginia History Teacher of the Year, an award presented annually by the Gilder Lehrman Institute of American History, the nation’s leading organization dedicated to K-12 American history education. 

New Tdap Immunization Requirements

Rising sixth graders will no longer need to get the Tetanus, diphtheria, and pertussis (Tdap) immunization to enter school in the fall due to a change made by the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practices (ACIP) that went into effect July 1.
