APS News Release

Update on Availability of Secondary Transfers for 2019-20

At the fall Middle and High School Information Nights, it was originally announced that the number of middle and high school slots available for neighborhood transfers would be announced today, Jan. 10. Because staff is still finalizing the updated projections for the 2019-20 school, the release of the transfer information will be delayed until next week. Families interested in a transfer may apply now, and the updated transfer allocation will be shared next week.

As a reminder to families, Secondary School Options and Transfers Applications are due by 4 p.m. on Fri, Jan. 18.

H-B Woodlawn Secondary Program – 6th and 9th Grade Allocations
Pursuant to APS options and transfers procedures, slots in the sixth- and ninth-grade class at H-B Woodlawn are now assigned based on the size of sixth-grade cohorts in each elementary school, eighth-grade cohorts in each middle school, and the number of students who were not previously enrolled in APS who applied last year. Allocations were adjusted to provide more equitable access to H-B Woodlawn. Families with students in grades 6-12 interested in attending H-B Woodlawn for the 2019-20 school year need to complete the Secondary School Options and Transfers Application because waitlists from previous years no longer carry over from year to year. Students currently attending H-B Woodlawn do not need to apply to remain in the program.
