On Feb. 9, the School Board held a work session on literacy to build a shared understanding of the key elements of reading; provide updates on the current status of literacy, specifically reading; and share the framework for the system to ensure success for all students.
The Board discussed how cycles of analyzing data, determining strengths and needs, responding to the needs and building the strengths, and monitoring progress are used at the division, school, grade, and student level to support all students in reading proficiency and growth. Dr. Donna Snyder, principal of Randolph Elementary School shared the strategies used at Randolph to support reading.
The Feb. 9 Work Session is available to watch online. The School Board will hold its next work session on instruction topics in late spring. Documents and presentation materials are available on BoardDocs.
