Upcoming Secondary Summer School Deadlines

Upcoming Secondary Summer School Deadlines There are two upcoming deadlines for Summer School secondary make up and strengthening courses. Friday, June 10 Registration closes for:

  • Secondary Make-Up and Strengthening Programs
  • SOL English 11 Writing Course (students must register in the Summer School Office; see address below)
  • Stratford Program
  • New students who are pre-registered to attend APS schools in fall 2016 (excludes New Work for Credit, Driver Education and all countywide Special Education programs except for students who have Extended School Year services)

Thursday, June 30 Late Registration for current APS Middle and High School students only who fail a credit-bearing course during the 2015-16 school year, or who are in danger of being retained will take place at Carlin Springs Elementary School from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. (5995 S. 5th Rd. ) A teacher signature is required on all registration forms for students at all grade levels to help ensure appropriate placement. Eighth grade English, Math and Physical Science are only open to students who fail these courses during the year or are in danger of being retained (if students are unsure about whether they will pass, they should wait to register at secondary late registration on June 30). Students should register at the schools they are attending during the 2015-16 school year by 4 p.m. on the day of the relevant deadline. Non-APS students must register through the Summer School Office at the Syphax Education Center at 2110 Washington Blvd. Out-of-county fees apply for non-residents. Arlington Public Schools provides a variety of secondary make up and strengthening classes over the summer. Program fees are due at the time of registration and are non-refundable except under very limited circumstances. Transportation will only be offered before first and after second period; students who register for one period only will not be allowed to stay at school when they do not have a class, and will need to arrange alternative mid-day transportation.
