Arlington Public Schools (APS) is preparing for the start of the Annual Online Verification Process (AOVP) for the 2020-21 school year. AOVP is the process APS uses to verify and update contact information for families in ParentVUE at the start of the school year to ensure schools have accurate student and family information. The AOVP window for this school year begins on August 31, 2020 and extends through October 30, 2020. It is important that all families complete their AOVP as soon as possible so their updated contact information is in the student information system as we begin the school year with full-time distance learning.

Below are important reminders to prepare for completing your AOVP:

• Make sure you have an active ParentVUE account: This process requires that all families have an active ParentVUE account so they will be able to easily complete the process online at the beginning of the school year. It is important to have an active account so that you can view important student information, such as class assignments, and track your child’s progress. Families without active ParentVUE accounts should contact their child’s school for an activation key.
• Confirm your students are listed in ParentVUE: Once logged in, please confirm that all of your currently enrolled APS children are listed. If any of your children are not listed, please contact your child’s school immediately.
• Complete the process once it begins for families: A notification will be sent to families to remind them when they are able to log in and complete their AOVP. It will be a quick and easy process for families who have taken the steps to activate their ParentVUE accounts ahead of time.

While completing the AOVP, families will be able to opt-in to sharing their family’s contact information with a school’s Parent-Teacher Association (PTA) to be included in the PTA directory. By state law, schools are unable to share family information with a school’s PTA unless a family opts-in, so even if you selected to opt-in for a previous school year, you must select to opt-in each school year when completing your AOVP.
