Tdap Immunization Reminder and Clinic Dates

APS reminds parents and guardians that all incoming sixth grade students must provide documentation that they have received a Tetanus-Diphtheria, Pertussis (Tdap) booster immunization before the first day of school. Students who do not submit documentation of an up-to-date Tdap vaccine will not be permitted to start school.If your student has already received the immunization, please bring verification to your middle school’s clinic by Thu, Sept. 1. There are five options for receiving the Tdap immunization.

  1. Tdap Clinics will be held at each middle school and are open to any APS student needing Tdap to meet requirements for school entry and not limited to the student enrolled at that middle school.
    • Gunston – Wed, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m.-Noon
    • Jefferson – Thu, Aug. 18 from 10 a.m-1 p.m.
    • Kenmore – Thu, Aug. 25 from 1-4 p.m.
    • Swanson – Thu, Aug. 25 from 1-4 p.m.
    • Williamsburg – Wed, Aug. 17 from 9 a.m.-Noon
  2. Sixth Grade Orientations: Clinics will be held at each middle school during the school’s 6th grade orientation. Students can only receive the immunization from the school they are attending.
    • H-B Woodlawn – Thu, Sept. 1 from 9:30-10:30 a.m.
    • Jefferson – Thu, Sept. 1 from 3-6 p.m.
    • Kenmore – Thu, Sept. 1 from 6:30-7:30 p.m.
    • Swanson – Thu, Sept. 1 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m.
    • Williamsburg – Thu, Sept. 1 from 8 a.m.-3 p.m.
  3. Students entering 6th grade can receive a free Tdap vaccine at the Arlington County Open Immunization Clinic on a walk-in basis during clinic hours.
    • Location: 2100 Washington Blvd., 2nd floor Arlington, VA 22204 No appointment is necessary.

Clinic Hours Tuesdays: 3-6:30 p.m. Wednesdays: 9 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Fridays: 7:30-11 a.m.

  1. Students can also receive their Tdap immunization from their medical provider.
  2. For students who are unable to get the Tdap immunization at one of the above clinics, the CVS Minute Clinic, located at 3133 Lee Hwy., offers the vaccine. There may be a fee.
