Dear APS Families,

Thank you for joining our celebration this week and sharing your gratitude for our wonderful teachers this week for Teacher Appreciation Week. Today is also National School Nurse Day, so join me in thanking the hard-working Arlington school health staff. Here are updates on graduation and other year-end reminders as we approach the final month of the 2022-23 school year.

Graduation and Year-End Dates: We look forward to celebrating the Class of 2023 and celebrating all students who are embarking on their next chapter in APS – whether they are moving to middle school or high school. You can view the High School Graduation and Middle School Promotion schedule online – we will be providing a livestream for the high school events.   Here are some other calendar dates to keep in mind:

  • May 29 – APS Closed for the Memorial Day Holiday
  • June 7 – Elementary Early Release for Students
  • June 14 – Last Day of High School / Early Release + Elementary Early Release
  • June 15 – Last Day of Middle School / Early Release
  • June 16 – Last Day of Elementary School / Early Release
  • June 19 – Staff Holiday (Juneteenth)

FY 2024 Budget: The School Board will vote on the budget this Thursday. It was my priority to maintain our focus on employee compensation so that we continue to recruit and retain the best staff in APS. Other priorities reflected in the budget include instruction, safety and student mental health and wellbeing.
