Students Named to All-Virginia Guitar Ensemble and Senior Regional Orchestra

Yorktown High School student Eli Gold was accepted into the All-Virginia Guitar Ensemble. A virtual performance was given November 18 as part of the Virginia Music Educators Association Conference and can be streamed on YouTube. The concert featured performances of music by composers Justin Holland, Kevin Vigil, Romana Hartmetz, Glenn Caluda, Jeffrey Tanner, John Graham, and Miroslav Loncar. This prestigious ensemble is available by audition to approximately 40 students around the state.

Northern Virginia All-Regional Orchestra
Four APS high school students were accepted into the Northern Virginia All-Regional Orchestra. The orchestra is one of four regional orchestras in the state where approximately 110 strings, wind and percussion players are accepted via a rigorous audition that takes place in September. Although the ensemble could not perform in person this year, the top players of each instrumental section are eligible to audition for the All-Virginia Band and Orchestra later in the school year.
