Superintendent Dr. Francisco Durán provided an update on the return-to-school plan at the July 31 School Board meeting.
The presentation included updates on criteria to reopen safely, technology, childcare, a breakdown of survey results from families and T-Scale staff (teachers), instruction, and more. The School Board also discussed the itemized estimated costs and revenue losses related to the closure and COVID-19 and announced a work session on the return-to-school Plan to take place on Thu, Aug. 13, from 6:30-8 p.m. The work session will be livestreamed.

Equity Policy
Staff presented the draft policy on equity (A-30) for information and the final policy will be brought for action on Aug. 20. The proposed policy includes governance in four key areas: Policy and Procedure Development and Revision; Educational Equity Practices; Workforce Equity Practices; and Operational Equity Practices. The equity policy has been in development since the Fall of 2018 as a directive from the School Board. The creation of the draft equity policy has been a collaborative effort that has included input from many internal and external stakeholders.
The draft policy also includes a component where the School Board, the Superintendent, and the Chief Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion Officer monitor the implementation of this policy through an annual monitoring report and other internal reports as designated by the School Board.
