New Carlin Springs Principal Named

Carlin Springs Principal Eileen DelaneyThe School Board named Eileen Delaney as the new Principal of Carlin Springs Elementary School. Delany is currently an associate principal at Greer Elementary School in Albemarle County Public Schools.

“Eileen has well over 30 years of experience in education including a strong background in ESOL,” said Superintendent Dr. Pat Murphy. “She has a wealth of curricular knowledge and a deep passion for effective instruction. She is passionate about literacy and providing students with everything they need to be successful, enthusiastic readers and writers.”

Delaney has a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature and a Master of Arts in Elementary Education from The College of William and Mary. She also holds a Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction with a specialty in Gifted Education of linguistically and culturally diverse learners from the University of Virginia.

Delaney has 15 years of teaching experience at both the elementary and middle school levels in Virginia, California, North Carolina and for the Department of Defense Dependents Schools (DODD).

After teaching, she transitioned from the classroom to central office as an elementary ESOL Education Specialist for Fairfax County Public Schools. She served in that role for five years before becoming an assistant principal in Fairfax County and then Principal in two schools in California. During her career, she served as the Principal of Beswick Elementary School, which was recognized as a 2016 California Gold Ribbon School, 2014 California Distinguish School, and Title 1 School of Academic Excellence.

Her appointment begins July 1.
