2. Superintendent Proposes Budget for Fiscal Year 2023-24

Superintendent Dr. Francisco Durán proposed a $746.1 million needs-based FY 2023 budget on Feb. 24. View the presentation and FY 2023 Budget-at-a-Glance. The budget focuses on the school division’s core priorities and prioritizes resources needed to directly serve students, hire and retain excellent staff, and maintain excellent schools. The School Board is set to adopt the proposed budget on April 7 and act on the final budget on May 12. View the budget calendar, the budget release and additional information on the budget process.

3. Coming Soon: Your Voice Matters Survey

APS will conduct the 2022 Your Voice Matters survey of students, families, and staff in early March through April. The survey is conducted biannually in partnership with the Arlington Partnership for Children, Youth, and Families (APCYF) to provide a snapshot of APS students, school climate and engagement. The data will provide APS with new benchmarks for measuring progress on 2018-24 Strategic Plan goals. Results will be available in Summer 2022. 4. Celebrate Arts in the Schools Month!

Join us this March for Arts in the Schools Month. This is a great time to enjoy student performances and learn more about our school arts programs. This annual celebration highlights the value of arts education and encourages support for quality arts programs in schools. Visit the APS website to see a full list of events. 5. Halls Hill Finale: Fire Station 8

We conclude the APS Black History Month celebration with the final episode in the “Halls Hill” video series, recognizing one of Arlington’s oldest neighborhoods. The final episode features the history behind Fire Station 8. Thank you to the John M. Langston Citizens Association & AETV for their contributions to this project.
