The ceremony will be streamed live on Facebook beginning at 2 p.m. on the U.S. Department of Education’s Facebook page, located at www.facebook.com/ed.gov.
ED-GRS is a national designation that recognizes schools that have achieved national-caliber excellence combining both green building and construction practices and green teaching and learning practices.
Discovery Elementary is the largest Zero Energy elementary school ever built, and has been recognized as an Eco-Schools USA “Green Flag” school, and is on track to receive LEED Platinum certification. Integrating ecological and sustainability practices and focuses across all age levels and curricular areas, Discovery successfully demonstrates that a fully-public, non-magnet, non-selective elementary school can serve as a sustainable community of global citizens while simultaneously achieving local, individualized instructional excellence.
