On Oct. 18, APS staff held a public meeting to present four options for the instructional focus of the Education Center site.
For those who were unable to attend, the meeting was streamed online and you can provide input at aps2016.apsva.us/engage/education-center/. Staff is receiving comments through November 1. You can also email comments to engage@apsva.us. The School Board has approved the planning for 500-600 high school seats to be added at the Education Center.
The new seats could be used for:
- Expansion of Washington-Lee by 600 seats
- Open a new high school program with approximately 500 seats (options identified in ACI’s annual report, 2016)
The working group will review community input and determine a final recommendation for the School Board to consider at their meeting on Nov. 2. The Board is expected to take final action on a proposal on Tue, Nov. 14. For more information, visit the APS Engage webpage at aps2016.apsva.us/engage/education-center.
