Community Engagement Opportunities – June 2021

Dear Friends of APS:
We hope you had a restful Memorial Day weekend. As we approach the end of the 2020-21 school year, we want to thank you for all you do to support APS students. As you know, critical work continues throughout the summer in preparation for the 2021-22 school year and beyond. We greatly appreciate your input and support.

Upcoming APS Community Engagement Opportunities:

Now – 6/20         Planning Unit Data Review. K-12 Planning Unit Data Review Questionnaire. Review the data by planning unit, for use in the Fall 2021 boundary adjustments for middle and high schools, as well as for Abingdon and Dr. Charles R. Drew elementary schools. More info at Engage with APS!

Arlington Community events:
Arlington County’s Public Health Division is offering free, walk-in COVID-19 vaccine clinics to individuals ages 12+, no appointment required. Children 12-17 must be accompanied by a parent/guardian. These clinics are for first dose only. The full schedule is available online.

Arlington County offers free, virtual U.S. Citizenship Classes and a scholarship for the USCIS application fee for eligible residents, based on household income. Learn more here or contact Susan at 703-228-1198.

7/12 – 9/17        Summer English classes at REEP for adults. Testing new students now. Class information at: https://aps2016.apsva.us/reep/class-information/

7/19 – 7/22        Leadership Arlington Youth Program for rising 9th, 10th, 11th & 12th graders. Application deadline is June 11. More information can be found here.
