Community Engagement Opportunities – Feb/Mar 2023

As part of our continued focus on school safety, our schools are reviewing their safety and emergency plans to protect the welfare of our students. In addition, the School Board held a Work Session on “Opioids and Substance Use in APS: Education and Prevention” to provide an update on our ongoing efforts. Watch the session.

Upcoming APS Community Engagement Opportunities:

Wed. Feb. 15     The Office of English Learners seeks community input on the Draft Five-Year Strategic Action Plan. This webinar will provide an overview of the process. Interpretation available in Spanish, Arabic, Amharic and Mongolian.

Arlington Community Events:

The Arlington Community Foundation is seeking volunteers to participate in its virtual Community Scholarship Review. Register by Feb. 21. Online review March 1-15, 2023.

Arlington Magazine is accepting nominations for Extraordinary Teen Awards. Candidates must be a senior in high school excelling in academics, extracurriculars and service, as well as individuals who have overcome significant life obstacles. Nominations are due Feb. 24.

2023 Honored Citizens Award
The Arlington School Board invites you to nominate outstanding community members for the 2023 Honored Citizens Award. Individuals must meet selection criteria and be committed volunteers who have gone above and beyond in supporting our students and schools. Nomination forms are due by 5 p.m. on March 13.
