Superintendent’s March 22, 2023 Update

As a follow-up to last week’s math update, I want to provide a brief update on takeaways from our review of mid-year academic data for students with disabilities. I also have a reminder about Ramadan and an update on the relaunch of the APS website, including opportunities for families to provide input. 

March 20-26 is National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week

March 20-26 is National Drug and Alcohol Facts Week® (NDAFW), an annual, week-long health observance that inspires dialogue about drug use and addiction among youth. Substance Abuse Counselors will sponsor NDAFW in schools and help students understand the myths about drugs and alcohol.

March 2023 APS All Stars Announced

APS is excited to announce the March 2023 APS All Stars, selected out of several hundred outstanding staff nominees! These individuals demonstrate excellence in collaboration, equity, inclusivity, integrity, innovation and stewardship. They are members of the APS team who are the first to pitch in, bring a positive attitude to their work and go above and beyond to serve students. Congratulations to these individuals!

Superintendent’s March 15, 2023 Update

As we approach the end of the third quarter, I want to share some updates on the ways we are working to ensure every student is progressing and achieving grade-level goals. At the start of the year, we shared an overview of the tiered system of support which guides the services and support each student receives in reading, math or other subjects.

Over the weekend, young scientists from the area had a chance to showcase their projects during the Northern Virginia Regional Science and Engineer Fair.
