This week, two organizations announced that nine APS seniors have earned full-tuition college scholarships.

Local singer songwriter and H-B Woodlawn senior Calista Garcia has been recognized for her outstanding artistic achievements in vocal/songwriting and joins 710 of the nation’s most promising young artists to be selected as a 2018 National YoungArts Winner.

The National Board of Professional Teaching Standards (NBPTS) announced that 20 Arlington Public Schools teachers successfully earned their National Board Certification. National Board Certification is a priority for APS.

Planning is now under way for Crossing Guard Appreciation Week, the annual Virginia Safe Routes to School event that recognizes the role of Crossing Guards as a critical link in the Safe Routes to School network.

On December 6, 2018, APS signed an agreement to partner with Sun Tribe Solar of Charlottesville, Va. to install rooftop solar panels on five schools across the county. APS staff, local leaders, partners and students were there to celebrate and recognize the excellent work of the APS team that helped make it happen.
