School Board Approves Options for High School Seats

The Arlington School Board approved the Superintendent’s recommendation to provide 1,300 additional high school seats, which includes renovation of the Education Center building to provide 500-600+ seats, and adding to the Career Center to provide 700-800+ seats (to be known as Career Center Phase 2).

Summary of the June 29 School Board Meeting

At its last meeting for the 2016-17 School Year, the Arlington School Board approved the Superintendent’s recommendation to provide 1,300 additional high school seats, to include renovation of the Education Center building to provide 500-600+ seats, and adding to the Career Center to provide 700-800+ seats.

New Carlin Springs Principal Named

The School Board named Eileen Delaney as the new Principal of Carlin Springs Elementary School. Delany is currently an associate principal at Greer Elementary School in Albemarle County Public Schools.

APS Wins 18 National Communications Awards

Arlington Public Schools and the Department of School and Community Relations earned 18 awards in the National School Public Relations Association’s (NSPRA) 2017 Publications and Electronic Media Contest.

CCPTA Awards 27 Scholarships to Graduating Seniors

At the end of May, the Arlington County Council of PTAs (CCPTA) awarded 17 graduating seniors who intend to pursue a career in education scholarships by the Arlington County Scholarship Fund for Teachers, Inc. (ACSffT, Inc.).
