Community Peer Pre-K (CPP) Program

The Community Peer Pre-K (CPP) Program, located in 11 elementary schools, provides children with and without disabilities the opportunity to participate in an engaging and comprehensive inclusive Preschool program.

The Toddler Program is a 25-hour-a-week program designed for children ages 2 years and 6 months through 3. It offers approximately 1/3 of the seats to students without disabilities.

The Pre-K Program is a full-day program designed for children ages 3 years and 6 months through 5. These classes have equal proportions of students with and without disabilities.

ELIGIBILITY:

  • Children without disabilities must be 2.5 years old by September 30th.
  • Children without disabilities must be 3.5 years old by September 30th to be eligible and toilet trained.
  • Priority consideration and enrollment in the program are given to neighborhood-zoned children, children in families below 80% of the median income in Arlington County (currently $120,560 for a family of four in Arlington), and current APS employees.

Application Deadline Monday, April 17, at 4 p.m.
Lottery* May 3 at 1 p.m.

Accept/Decline May 19, 11:59 p.m

HOW TO APPLY:

  1. Complete an application through our online application portal
  2. Upload the following documents to the online portal with your application.
    • Copy of original birth certificate
    • Copy of Identification card of either parents/ guardian

LEARN ABOUT THE COMMUNITY PEER PRE-K PROGRAM (CPP)

  • Inclusive preschool programs have a positive and profound academic and social impact on children with and without disabilities.
  • Children in the CPP Program receive differentiated instruction based on the Early Learning and Development Standards (ELDS). Instructional areas of focus include literacy, mathematics, science, history, health and physical development, personal and social development, music, and visual arts.
  • Our toddler programs provide play-based instruction to target all developmental areas with a focus on communication, interactions with peers and adults as well as fostering growing independent skills.
  • Transportation is provided for students who are age 4 by Sept 30th who reside in that zoned school area but live outside the neighborhood school’s walk zone.
  • Tuition is charged on a sliding fee schedule based on family incomeMontessori and CPP Fees FY24 adopted
  • All students in the 3-year-old year pay a fee for the program.
  • Students in the 4-year-old year whose household income is below $120,560 for the 2023-2024 school year, do not pay a fee for that year.
