ACTL Subject-Matter Advisory Committee Application Form

General Info on Advisory Groups

The Arlington County community is founded on the importance of community member feedback into the governance of the county. Arlington Public Schools (APS) values your input. That’s why APS has built a strong network of more than 30 volunteer advisory committees, each one focusing on a specific subject or topic area from instruction to construction.

ACTL will be composed of Arlington residents or those for whom their primary place of business or employment is located in Arlington. You are welcome to participate regardless of whether you have children enrolled in APS. Employees of APS may not participate on ACTL or Subject-Matter Committees, except as staff liaisons or advisors to committees, or as TCI or AEA representatives on ACTL.

Interested? Please attend a committee meeting! All meetings are open to the public, and the Arlington School Board welcomes your participation. Your insights are invaluable, and we look forward to hearing your thoughts.

To Join an Advisory Committee, please fill out the School Board Advisory Committee Application.

Under the umbrella of the Advisory Council on Teaching and Learning (ACTL) there are 13 advisory committees, each of which focuses on a specific curriculum area.  Please indicate the committee you are seeking appointment to when filling out the application.

To Join as a Representative of your School or Organization to ACTL, Please Ask your PTA: If you would like to serve on ACTL as a representative of your school or organization, ask your PTA or organization whether there is an opening, and if so, ask them to appoint you.  We welcome one representative and one alternate from each elementary school and two representatives and two alternates from each secondary school, and one representative and one alternate for community organizations.
