Lia Gargano - McKinley #APSTeacherTuesday is Lia Gargano, a Kindergarten teacher from McKinley E.S. Lia is a lifelong learner and being in school with the students brings her joy! Her favorite part of the Kindergarten day is their English Language Arts block. Exploring new books and watching students learn to read is very rewarding for her. Lia, you are awesome!

#APSTeacherTuesday - Fleet's Ms. Sarah Switaj Meet our #APSTeacherTuesday, Fleet’s Ms. Sarah Switaj. As a teacher, she lives by the following quote by Maya Angelou, “People will forget what you said. People will forget what you did. But people will never forget how you made them feel.” She believes that when children feel valued, loved, and understood, they will take more risks, put forth more effort, and exceed expectations.

Swanson Teacher Kayla Buckles Meet Kayla Buckles for our #APSTeacherTuesday. Her proudest moment was landing her dream job! As she began looking for open social studies positions, she knew that she needed to find a school that aligned with her values as an educator. She wanted a position in a school system that encourages student-centered learning, celebrated diversity, and fostered an environment of excellence. She was absolutely thrilled when she received the phone call from Mr. Underhill that informed her that she had landed the job at Swanson Middle School! Five years at James Madison University lead her to this point in her life, and she couldn’t be more excited!

Montessori Teacher Lila Ross Meet Lila Ross, Upper Level Montessori teacher at Montessori Public School of Arlington. Lila has over 20 years experience teaching Montessori. Ms. Ross believes, “Children are human beings to whom respect is due, superior to us by reason of their innocence and of the greater possibilities of their future…Let us treat them with all the kindness which we would wish to help to develop in them.” This is what we aspire to. ~ Dr. Montessori
